Web design goals for 2018

Another year is about to come to an end in just over a month, so now is the perfect time to start thinking about all your goals for 2018. And one aspect of your business that is probably long overdue a big overhaul is your company website. Web design trends and styles are continually changing and developing, and it is really important that you try and keep up with them all.

Not sure that’s going to be hot in 2018? Here are some great web design goals for your company.

Minimalistic homepages

One of the biggest turn-offs for web users is a website that is too busy and cluttered. If you put too much stuff on your homepage – whether this is content or images – you will find that there is way too much going on for people to process. It might even make it very difficult for them to see any calls for action that are on there. So, your number-one priority in 2018 is to create a very minimalistic homepage.

Improved navigation

Ask Darren Langley or any other web design expert what the main design aspect to keep in mind is, and they will no doubt tell you that good navigation is key. If someone can’t find what they are looking for on your page, then they will move on and look at one of your competitor’s sites. So, that means you need to make sure that your menus are very clear and your web users instantly know how to get from A to B.

Keep it mobile friendly

Studies show that over 40% of web users were browsing websites on their mobile phones or tablet devices in 2016. Many industry experts believe that this figure has been slowly increasing over the past year or so and by 2018 it is expected that over half of web users will be using mobile. So, it’s important that you are catering to them by creating a web design that is mobile-responsive. If you aren’t too sure how to do that, you can always speak to a professional to get things off the ground for you.

Eye-catching fonts

I’ve already mentioned that your website’s homepage should be as minimalist as possible. But that doesn’t mean that there should be nothing on there at all. And the content that is on there should be very bold with eye-catching fonts. Delicate fonts are very much dated right now, and in 2018 you will notice that lots of companies start to use fonts and lettering style that will easily attract everyone’s attention and get them reading what you have to say.

Scrolling animations

Want to make sure that your users keep on strolling down your website? Then you need to add some scrolling animations. These are basically animations that only move and stay animated as you scroll down past them.

So, if you’ve been struggling to think of some goals for the new year, these should help you greatly improve your web design and bring your website into the future!
