When you run a business one of the things that you may have to think about at some point is whether or not you want to have a premises for your business, and although this is unique to every business owner and not everyone has a premises and not everyone feels the need for one right way, it’s important to do what feels right for your business at the right time and not simply because you feel you have to.
It’s important to remember that having an office is definitely a monthly expense, so whether it’s paying team members, the running costs of the office, or even hiring fit out companies when you first decide to get a place, the cost is always something you should be able to afford without difficulty,
So in this post we’re going to share with you some of the top ways that you can identify if it might be time to rent an office for your business
You’re looking to build a team:
One of the main reasons that business owners start looking for an office is when they want to really start scaling the company and building a team. Of course we all know that, especially nowadays, it’s more than possible to build a business and build a team whilst working from home, but if you want to have your team working in house and depending on your business you may want to have a premises for them to come to work each day.
You’re struggling with work/life balance:
One of the biggest struggles that people have when working from home and running their own business is that they really struggle with the concept of work life balance, and a good way to overcome this is by having your own business premises.
The reason that work life balance is sometimes going to suffer when working from home is that it can be difficult to know when to switch off if you’re constantly surrounded by things that are reminding you of work, so if you’re coming into your office at certain times each day and being able to leave at certain times each day and then go home and separate those two parts of your life then you’re going to find work life balance a lot easier to achieve overall.
You’re finding working at home too difficult:
Although many people will find this to be crazy if they don’t work at home because they think that working at home is the dream for anyone who’s ever worked in an office before, it’s not as rosy and wonderful as it appears to be on the outside, and working at home can be a challenge, especially if you’re more of an extroverted person and you really need to be around other people in order to feel energized, then working at home can sometimes feel like a bit of a struggle.
Of course this may not be the only reason that you find working at home a challenge – it could be that you have a family who perhaps doesn’t understand that you need time to work and they see working at home as more or less slacking off and not doing any real work, so in this case having an office where you come and go each day could actually help you overcome this particular problem.
